Upper Weiser River areawill be smoky this fall

New Meadows Ranger District Payette National Forest will be the achievement of prescribed burning in Mud Creek, Upper Weiser River, Lost Valley and the rapid river from late August until late October.

These prescribed fires to maintain or improve habitat for big game in progress by opening forest stands and protect trees from more severe fires, the U.S. Forest Service said.

Prescribed burns will also rejuvenate the shrubs and herbs.

Birds and small mammals generally benefit from the increase of snags and large debris resulting from this type of burn.

Round 2 winners selected Idaho Super Hunt

In the second of two drawings, one entry Super Hunt Combo has been developed that allows the winner to hunt for elk, deer, antelope and moose.

Seven other winners were chosen for tag single species - two elk, two deer and pronghorn hunts two and a moose.

A hunter is Washington, we are in Utah and the rest of Idaho.

All winners have been contacted. State law prohibits Fish and Game to release the names of the winners.

The winners will participate in an open season this fall, according to the rules of the hunt they choose, for example, only the bow or muzzleloader-hunting.

The money from the sale of entries in the Super Hunt - described as the hunt of a lifetime - supports Access Yes program that compensates landowners who provide hunters and anglers, or through the access to private land.
