Dog eats $10000 in diamonds at Georgia jewelry store
Honey Bun, a small pup that hangs out at work with his owners at an Albany, Ga. jewelry store, recently had a mighty expensive meal when he gobbled down $10,000 in diamonds, reports Albany’s WALB-TV.
Chuck and Ann Roberts discovered two weeks ago while working at John Ross Jewelers that several expensive items left on a desk were missing. They had left four packs of loose diamonds to set in diamond earrings - along with dog treats. When store co-owner Chuck Roberts returned to the desk after helping a customer only three packs remained and an empty pouch was lying on the floor, the station reported.
Honey Bun was taken for X-rays and it was determined the pup was the culprit. Carbon doesn’t show up on the film, but two blank spots confirmed the items’ location, the station reported.
It only took a day, “and they found another surprise,” the station said. Diamonds recovered.
Chuck Roberts said Honey Bun hasn’t been scolded for the deed. "I haven't scolded him to this day and I won't,” said Roberts, adding he’s the one who left the items in easy reach of his pal.

It was on July 27, 1661 that three Mohawk sachems made their mark on a document giving possession of land along the eastern Mohawk Valley to Arent Van Curler, a Dutch official from Albany. The land would eventually become Schenectady.
According to the original deed on record in Albany, Van Curler purchased the land with wampum, clothing, lead bars and gunpowder. A month earlier, Dutch colonial officials had given Van Curler permission to start a settlement on the Mohawk River.
The settlement of Schenectady started in 1662.
Historians tell the Daily Gazette of Schenectady that Van Curler wanted the land to establish a fur trade with the Mohawk villages upriver and get the first shot at purchasing beaver pelts before they reached fellow Dutch traders in Albany.
