Dolphy's grandson aims to make mark on 'PGT' season 3
MANILA, Philippines – Another member of the mighty Quizon showbiz clan might just carve up a career in the business if one considers the dreams of aspiring singer Rowell Quizon.
Rowell is one of the many who patiently lined up to the auditions for the third season of “Pilipinas Got Talent,” which has already kicked off its broadcast in July.
Although the grandson of King of Comedy, Dolphy—one of the three from the elder Quizon’s long-departed son, Freddie (with Dolphy’s first partner with whom he has five other children – Boy, Sahlee, Dolphy Jr., Edgar and Rollie)—Rowell, nevertheless, is not relying on his family name to boost his chances.
In a report on abscbnnews.com, Rowell is quoted as saying that he wants to be known for his talent and not for his lineage.
Prior, Rowell tried to eke a niche for himself via TV5’s “Philippine Idol,” where he made the cut after an excellent cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately.” But as Rowell said, “Hindi rin ako nagtagal.”
Rowell is currently a regular performer at Library comedy bar and restaurant.
“Pilipinas Got Talent” is a talent show that airs on ABS-CBN. It is part of the Got Talent franchise, a British TV format conceived and owned by Simon Cowell's SYCO company. To date, the local version of the show has produced two champions in two seasons: singers Jovit Baldivino and Marcelito Pomoy.
