Strip Scribbles: Las Vegas featured on Bravo and Animal Planet
Tonight airs the story of 200 lovebirds’ journey from a chaotic hoarding situation to the compassionate care of Wayne Newton ’s Casa de Shenandoah here in Las Vegas. The birds were rescued from a home where the owners allowed the birds to live freely but relinquished them voluntarily to relocate them permanently to Wayne’s home.The blue black-masked, white-bellied lovebirds provide an impressive addition to Wayne’s wildlife sanctuary, which includes Arabian horses, wallabies, penguins, peacocks and Peepshow explores stories of people who own more pets then they can care for, as there are more than 3,000 reported cases a year -- at least 10 times that number goes unreported. The series brings families together to voluntarily find humane solutions that work for pets and people.
Meantime, Holsteins in the Cosmopolitan is hosting a viewing party for Top Chef Just Desserts , as two of its pastry chefs, Carlos Enriquez and Craig Poirier , compete on the Bravo series. Fans will watch the chefs create their best sweets on the competition show while enjoying drink and food specials and surprise complimentary treats. The party begins at 9:30 p.m., followed by the show at 10, with viewing parties every Wednesday.

China Chow, host and judge, lends her artistic grace to the second season of Bravo’s cutting-edge competition that brings fine art dialogue to the forefront of pop culture. Returning to the judging panel is Bill Powers, a New York Gallery owner and literary art contributor, as well as Jerry Saltz, senior art critic for New York Magazine. World-renowned art auctioneer Simon de Pury adds his voice of expertise as a mentor to the contestants.
This season the competition has grown fierce, with artists who graduated top of their class at Yale, studied under Marilyn Minter, and even had their work sold by Phillips de Pury Auction & Company. The challenges range from inventive street art to the use of Parkour, a discipline where participants overcome obstacles using only their bodies to move from point A to point B in the most creative way possible, as inspiration. Each week, the contestants are tasked to create an original artwork in the medium of their choice, including – but not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography, collage, industrial design and performance art.
Joining the expert panel each week are professional artists and tastemakers known for challenging the mold in the constantly evolving art world. Guest judges include Adam McEwen, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, KAWS and Mary Ellen Mark.
