, for his take on Libya and the energy markets as a whole. But let's get a little background first.
On Feb. 15, human rights activist Fethi Tarbel was arrested. This sparked a riot in the northeastern city of Benghazi.
Before the uprising, Libya pumped 1.6 million barrels of crude oil a day in February. By May, only 60,000 barrels of oil were produced a day.
Now rebels have finally taken hold of oil infrastructure around Tripoli, and the Gadhafi regime looks ready to fall. But crude oil production isn't coming back on line yet. In fact, Johannes Benigni, managing director of JBC Energy, said that it could be 1 1/2 years before Libyan oil is pumping at full strength.
He said that the country could pump 400,000 a day by the end of the year. That's only a quarter of the amount of crude oil Libya produced before the uprising.
How Does This Affect Crude Oil Prices? So let's take a look at how events have affected crude oil prices .

As you can see, oil prices were well on the rise before the riots in Benghazi. And oil prices started falling before Libyan rebels made their play for Tripoli.
So what's really driving crude oil prices?
Zach says, "Oil prices have been trending lower more due to the economic relapse than anything else. But that could change quickly if the perception is that the unrest in Libya is going to spread through the Middle East like it did earlier in the year.

In the meantime, though, oil prices have been seesawing, sometimes moving $5 or more in a single day. That makes it hard to play oil, even for traders, unless they are glued to their computer screens. Zach acknowledges that short-term trading has been
Investor sentiment has cooled of late amid fading expectations that Fed chairman Ben Bernanke will deliver anything more than a statement of the Fed's readiness to act if a fall back into recession should threaten. The FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index Japan's
In Texas, where it gets ungodly hot anyway, the Austin Advanced Computing Center is experimenting with immersing systems into liquid to keep them running cool. Instead of water, they use a nonconductive mineral oil, remove the fans from systems and
There is no “check engine” light, no ECM – and no computer hook-up is necessary to determine how much oil's in the crankcase (as in current BMW models – no kidding). There is, in brief, not much to do – except drive the thing.
Use tongs to transfer the chicken to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain and cool completely. Set the cooled fried chicken on a cutting board. Use a 1 ¼-inch round cookie cutter to stamp 24 rounds from the chicken cutlets, and place them on a
Oil Cooled PC Test Rig | Device driver downloads, Windows 7 ...
We wanted to do an oil cooled PC submersion rig for quite a while now and we finally decided to get around to actually doing it. The coolant being used is mineral oil, since it is non conductive, relatively cheap, and won’t harm the components on the motherboard. Mineral oil is used in industrial equipment as an electrical insulator in things such as power pole transformers and other high voltage equipment.
We had an old Dell dimension 4550 computer that was scheduled for execution, and we decided, why not use it to test the oil cooling, and to see how well computer components stand up to mineral oil. If it got fried oh well.
Oil cooled PCs have benefits and drawbacks for sure. First, its kind of messy, you should probably take an existing system that works well and do a submersion cooling system, or on a new rig build, put it all together and get everything working perfectly. The usual swapping of components back and forth during a build should be avoided.
The oil in an oil cooled PC will eventually evaporate, so you should have a system that can be completely sealed if you want to use it long term.
80mm turbo fan designed for their older high end heatsinks. We could not submerge this fan all the way, as eventually the fan would fall into a strange stall-start loop pattern. This may be attributed to the dinky Dell 250W powersupply not being able to keep up with the increased current on the +12V line.On the other hand, the benefits could greatly outweigh the drawbacks in a properly set up oil cooled PC. It has the potential for completely silent .
Our oil cooled PC project was successful, though the Dell fought us at every step. It took 2 or 3 hard drives before the dell decided it could use one, and it wouldn’t even boot unless we plugged in the stock case fan, which on the dell case also acts as the CPU fan; there is no fan directly on the CPU cooler. While on the topic of the stock CPU fan, this CPU fan had its own thermal couple and it was able to control its own speed based on the temperature of the air it was circulating. Because of this, there was no internal hardware monitor on the motherboard for temperatures.
