Monsieur Gérard Bechler, founder and owner of Pâtisserie Bechler, is a Master Pastry Chef. Gérard is from Colmar in Alsace, France, where he first apprenticed with his brother Jean-Pierre at their father's pastry shop. After his apprenticeship, Gérard worked as a Pastry Chef in the seaside resort town of Deauville in Normandy. He then was invited to serve as the Master Pastry Chef at the famed Auberge de l'Ill (Michelin three-star) almond meringue. The quiche was whipped to soft, smooth perfection; the apples were crisp, fresh, and flavorful atop a tasty custard on a flaky biscuit-like crust; the macaroon was the size of a large cookie, perfectly toasted, airy and light; and the meringue was simple yet intriguing, with sliced almonds inside. After all that, we were still so tempted to go back to the "dessert" case which housed what appeared to be heart-shaped cheesecakes and other delights decorated and topped with . Our Willow Glen restaurant displays the “world’s largest wooden surfboard” while others have surf memorabilia from the pro circuit and famous surf movies. By creating a fun atmosphere and hiring fun people, we think you’ll have fun each time you visit Pizza My Heart. As much as we value the fun factor, we are nothing without our food quality. In fact, you could say superior food quality is Pizza My Heart's "secret formula." to give it just the right texture and flavor. Combine that with our own recipes for sauces, sourcing of the freshest ingredients available – with special preference for locally and organically grown items – and you begin to understand why we’ve won so many local, state-wide and national awards.
