It's no secret that women go to great lengths, wild lengths even crazy lengths, to look good, or attain what they perceive to be the look that will turn heads, drive other women crazy with jealousy and supposedly make men giddy with want or lust. Sadly through the ages, those lengths have not only seen women damage themselves but have in some cases led to deformity and in the worst of scenarios - death.
In July 2010, a story depicting the depth of cases of vanity insanity ran in Glamour magazine about "cosmetic foot surgery" that had to be the most disturbing of them all. The article alleged that women were going the extra length to look good in high heels. The procedure to make this happen was known as the "The Cinderella Procedure," a strictly cosmetic surgery that narrows the foot to allow it to fit into stilettos, and a slew of other creepy treatments that put women under the knife to help them wear high heels.
The Cinderella Procedure includes among other things an aesthetic "Toe Shortening" that invisibly trims toes that hang over the end of sandals or have to be crushed into tight shoes. There's also 'Foot-Tuck Fat Pad Augmentation,' in which fat from the patient's abdomen is injected into the balls of her feet to provide extra cushioning for long days on high heels." One New York surgeon even offers what he calls "a pinky tuck," slimming down the smallest toe when it becomes deformed after years of wearing high heels.
