The man from New Jersey, Fairleigh Dickenson student arrested for impaired driving
Alex A. Brodowski, 21, 17 Corrigan Way, Old Tappan, New Jersey, was arrested around 2:13 on September 17 and charged with impaired driving and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said he is a student at Fairleigh Dickenson.
Police said a patrol officer Point Judith Road clocked a gray BMW X5 Brodowski led to 55 miles per hour in a 30 hours per mile zone. The police noted that the car has also drifted back across the center lane, and then in the process of decomposition without using a turn signal.
A traffic stop was made in Palm Beach Avenue. Police said Brodowski said he was from Salve Regina University in Newport and thought he was heading the University of Rhode Island. The police noted that Brodowski slurring his words and had watery, bloodshot eyes, but he denied drinking that night.
The police asked him to submit to a field sobriety test, which he agreed. The police noted that he nearly fell to the ground trying to get out of his car. Police said Brodowski failed tests, and he was arrested.
Police said they offered Brodowski a phone call once they were back at headquarters. They noted that he could not make it work, despite being shown how twice, then abandoned.
Police said Brodowski refused to submit to a chemical test. He said, "I do not know what happened. I went to some bars and URI had a beer and a vodka cranberry, and I do not remember anything after that. I do not know what s' has passed. "
According Brodowski, he drove to New Jersey earlier that day. He was released later that morning after being indicted by a justice of the peace.
